Have you been searching for the perfect way to support ocean conservation and leave an enduring mark? We’re excited to announce the one-of-a-kind opportunity to name an endangered leatherback sea turtle tagged on Matura Beach in Trinidad and Tobago!

Naming a leatherback is not only a unique and lasting honor, but it also directly supports Oceanic Society’s sea turtle conservation program and the on-the-ground conservation work of Nature Seekers, a community-based nonprofit in Trinidad that is dedicated to protecting leatherback turtles. Every bit of your $500 tax-deductible naming fee will go towards vital sea turtle conservation and research.

What You Get When You Name a Sea Turtle

When you name a leatherback turtle, your generous gift comes with:

  • A personalized sea turtle naming certificate with details about your turtle.
  • A leatherback turtle fact sheet and an overview of the conservation work you are supporting.
  • Free worldwide shipping of your certificate and materials, upon request.
  • Public acknowledgment on our Named Sea Turtles page and in Nature Seekers’ annual report.
  • Permanent recognition in our database as your turtle’s patron.
  • Email updates about re-sightings of your turtle and new data collected (if available).

Why Name a Sea Turtle?

Leatherback turtles are the most unique sea turtles, performing exceptionally deep dives, holding their breath for unthinkable durations, and making incredible long-distance migrations. However, they face critical threats, from plastic pollution to habitat loss. By naming a leatherback, you’re not only supporting conservation work—you’re helping secure a future for these extraordinary creatures.

A Gift That Gives Twice

Whether for a holiday, birthday, anniversary, or just because, naming a sea turtle is an unforgettable gift for the nature lover in your life. Giving this lasting legacy is a heartfelt way to honor someone special while directly supporting wildlife conservation.
